There are 4 areas to cover in the project planning stage:

  • Budget/Financing:

    • Establish a budget so EquityQuest can help design a project within that budget

  • Site and Zoning Research- 

    • EquityQuest will do a preliminary report free of charge

    • Formal feasibility study including:

      • Permit costs

      • Utility and site development scope and estimated costs

      • Materials Access/Storage plan

      • Site Plan

      • Site plan review by  the city/county prior to the design process.

      • EquityQuest will do this process for a fee or homeowners can do this process themselves.  EquityQuest will rely on the information provided by the homeowner. 

  • ADU Design – 

    • Our process is completely custom.  Bring your ideas, sample plans, napkin sketches, Pinterest links – whatever you have, and we will collaborate to produce the best possible design for your budget and situation.

    • Some design elements to consider:

      • # bedrooms/Baths

      • Kitchen size

      • Other rooms

      • Porches/Patios

      • Exterior Style

      • Interior Style

      • Inspiration pictures/links

  • Collaboration Plan/Project Scope. Determine together the items you want complete by EquityQuest and the items you want to contact directly for (or complete yourself). This mix affects the amount of builder markup and is a great source of cost savings.
